Through the American Fence Association (AFA) and the Accreditation & Certification Institute (ACI), we became the first Certified Fence Contractor in Arkansas. Compensation & Benefits:

Salary: From $17-$20 per hour depending on experience.

Expected hours: 35 – 55 per week
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Some weekends as needed

Work Setting:
• On-site field work and in-office

• Outdoor work in various conditions

Qualifications:

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong willingness to learn and take direction.
• Good work ethic and reliability.
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools (or willingness to learn).
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.

Preferred Skills:

• Basic knowledge of construction, fencing, or electrical work.
• Experience working outdoors or on job sites.
• Interest in electrical, mechanical, or low-voltage systems.
• Ability to operate or learn light equipment (e.g., skid steers, trenchers).
• OSHA 10 Certification.

Job Summary:

Thomas Fence is seeking a motivated and dependable Gate Technician Helper to assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated gate systems for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. This entry-level role is designed for individuals eager to learn the trade, develop technical skills, and grow into a Gate Technician or leadership position.

The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a team-first attitude. This role plays a key part in supporting efficient, safe, and high-quality gate system installations and service work.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation Support:

• Assist technicians with installing automated gate systems, including operators, access control devices, and safety components.
• Help with digging, setting posts, running conduit, and pulling wire.
• Stage tools, materials, and equipment for efficient job site workflow.
• Support basic low voltage wiring and system setup under supervision.

2. Maintenance & Repair Assistance:

• Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and aligning components.
• Help troubleshoot system issues alongside a lead technician.
• Ensure tools and materials are organized and accounted for after each job.

3. Skill Development & Learning:

• Learn to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation plans.
• Gain hands-on experience with gate operators, access control systems, and safety devices.
• Follow guidance from lead technicians to build technical competence.
• Continuously improve knowledge of gate systems and installation techniques.

4. Team & Customer Interaction:

• Maintain a professional and respectful attitude on job sites.
• Support technicians in delivering a positive customer experience.
• Communicate clearly with team members to ensure efficient workflow.

5. Safety & Compliance:

• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Use proper PPE at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
• Participate in safety training and follow all job site safety procedures.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and environments.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor throughout the day.
• Capability to climb ladders.
